Skydiving. One of the most popular “to do’s” on billions of bucketlists.
Is it on yours?
There are so many people out there who claim the desire to jump out of an airplane and free fall out of the sky for 30-45 seconds at speeds up to 120mph before they die.
Once you’re not afraid of heights, it’s one of the most exhilarating, thrilling ways to experience the skies and live amongst the birds.
But what if you’re like me and not 100% sure that skydiving is for you?
What if the idea sounds great in your head but you’re not too convinced by the reality?
Well I challenged myself this week to conquer that fear of defying gravity and this is what I did…
iFly Toronto
The simple, basic solution to my concerns was to step into a vertical wind tunnel and experience the thrill of indoor skydiving.
To do this, I ventured into Oakville’s iFly Toronto to tick indoor skydiving off of my bucket list.
Why not right?!
“If a 4 year old can fly indoors, then who am I?!”
These were the thoughts repeatedly going through my mind as I donned goggles, a helmet, ear pods and a body suit onto my physical structure.
With an experienced instructor by my side, I was ready for the vertical wind tunnel to blast me into the air.
And sure enough, this was the perfect baby step to full on tandem skydiving for me.

The Perks
Not only did I fulfil my dream to fly, but I experienced the exhilaration of skydiving at speeds of 120 mph within a safe, environmentally controlled space.
Furthermore, pre-flight training, a safety orientation and safety equipment were given to all flyers to ensure a smooth, safe experience from beginning to end.
I had absolutely nothing to worry about, which calmed the anxious, nervous, nail-biting kid inside of me. What a relief!

When I entered into that gravity-defying wind tunnel that blasted me immediately into the air, I knew that I could surely tandem skydive out of an airplane in complete control of my body and with my nerves in complete calm.
I’ve now officially ticked indoor skydiving off of my bucket list.
Next step, tandem skydiving out of an airplane.
